Self-Catering Chalet Glencoe

Oakview Chalet is located on a small croft holding 5 miles north of Glencoe village and 12 miles south of Fort William at the heart of breath taking Highlands. Unlike lots of other local holiday properties, Oakview is situated around 500 meters off the main A82 road.

There is a slabbed path from the private parking area leading through the arched gateway in the tall conifer hedge that gives Oakview excellent privacy. Wooden steps take you up to the elevated covered veranda which overlooks spectacular unspoiled mountain views across Loch Leven and Loch Linnhe.

The chalet is centrally located to explore the Scottish Highlands and Islands. There is a wide range of outdoor activities at hand from challenging climbs to fantastic forest walks. Loch Ness, the internationally famous home to the legendary monster, can be reached by car in around 90 minutes, with Inverness and Glasgow being a two hour drive.

 

Facilities

The Chalets accommodation comprises of one double bedroom, lounge/dinning room, kitchen and shower room. There is a colour TV with 4 channels to keep you entertained.

Central heating is by electric storage heaters. There is a supplementary 2 bar coal effect electric fire with wooden fireplace as the focal point in the lounge. The first £5.00 of electricity is included in the price with the remainder being calculated by meter reading and charged at cost price with the balance to be settled on departure.

The kitchen has a ceramic halogen hob and electric oven, microwave oven, fridge/freezer, automatic washing machine, and ironing facilities. The shower room is fully tiled and incorporates a toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. The rectangular shower cubicle is hand built and has a conveniently located tiled seat.

The wooden decked veranda has a bench seat allowing you to sit back and enjoy the views. There is private parking for one vehicle only. Towels and bed linen are provided free of charge.

 

Transport & Local Services

The nearest train station is in Fort William giving access to the Caledonian Sleeper Service and the West Highland Line. Most cities in Scotland can be reached by rail or coach from here. The local bus service passes on the main road with bus stop being 500 meters from Oakview.

Nearby there are several hotels offering bar and restaurant meals. The nearest petrol station is within a ½ mile. There is a local shop within 2 miles and supermarkets in Fort William.

 

Availability

The chalet is available all year round. From April till October it is let on a weekly basis from Saturday to Saturday. Checking-in time is 3:00 p.m. Checking-out time is 10 a.m. Short breaks can be arranged during the low season. We operate a strict No pets policy.

 

Glencoe & Rannoch Moor

Glencoe is most definitely a beautiful and fascinating location. It has an untouched atmosphere about it. Standing in the Glen looking down the valley where the mountains reach up to the sky, it’s easy to imagine the Highland Clansmen driving their cattle through the pass on foot and across Rannoch Moor on their way to market centuries ago. Magnificent Mountains, Lochs and Glens await you.
